Message Dress, 2007.

(L) 108cm x (W) 62cm x (H) 90cm
Chinese dress in digital printed cotton satin, mannequin, wooden stamps.

The work “invites the viewers to choose adjectives to comment on the garment. So much as ‘meanings are not inherent in objects – they are made by people, in context – change the space, the place, the time, or the person – and the meanings will alter…Each time the piece is shown it can be re-configured by its audience.

Wear the Message Dress…on the streets of Hong Kong and the meanings will change, wear it in London, or Shanghai and they will change again.”
